Sealing material information

RU39™ – based on a peroxide-cured, hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (HNBR)

Key characteristics:

  • Exceptional durability
  • Superior resistance to heat (up to 160'C in air)
  • Enhanced resistance to rapid gas decompression (RGD/ED)
  • Outstanding abrasion and extrusion resistance
  • Enhanced chemical resistance to harsh chemicals, including crude oil, H2S and brines

Thanks to a high saturation and medium ACN content in the polymer backbone as well as proprietary curative package, RU39™ offers a unique combination of high mechanical strength and toughness, exceptional retention of mechanical properties at high temperatures, hot tear strength, superior compression set resistance, low gas permeability, and excellent resistance to a broad range of chemicals and weathering conditions.

Specifically formulated with nano-reinforcement, RU39™ demonstrates outstanding dynamic characteristics, enhanced resistance to seal extrusion and best-in-class resistance to abrasive and sliding wear. Therefore, RU39™ is the material of choice for various sealing applications where high durability at elevated temperatures and extreme pressures is required. RU39™ is compounded to prevent seal failures induced by rapid gas decompression events (to NORSOK M-710, ISO 23936-2, TOTAL GS PVV 142, NACE TM0192).
